ORIGIN STORY
From industrial steel leftovers to a magazine holder with a story: let us present Rover's Scrap Magazine Holder!
The Story
The Scrap Magazine Holder grew from a simple observation: every day, perfectly usable industrial offcuts disappear into the recycling stream simply because they no longer fit the production process. ROVER set out to challenge the idea that these materials had reached the end of their life.
Designed by Tom De Koninck for ROVER, the magazine holder transforms reclaimed industrial leftovers into a functional object with a distinctive identity. Rather than concealing the irregular shapes and traces of their previous life, the design celebrates them, allowing each piece to tell the story of the local industries from which the materials originate.
The construction combines reclaimed reinforcing steel, perforated stainless steel offcuts and discarded chipboard samples from a local kitchen manufacturer. Together, these overlooked materials create an object that is both practical and visually refined, proving that thoughtful design can give industrial leftovers a meaningful second life.
Suitable for hospitality, retail, office, lounge and residential environments, the Scrap Magazine Holder is available in the client's preferred color, depending on material availability. More than a place to store magazines, it stores material history. It invites people to rethink how we value materials and demonstrates that circular design can be both locally rooted and aesthetically refined.

Maintenance: Clean with a soft cloth and warm water. If needed, use a mild pH-neutral detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners, steel wool and harsh chemicals. Dry the surface after cleaning to prevent water marks. If exposed to moisture, ensure the object is thoroughly dried before storage.
